Prestigious Gala Co-Hosted by the American Bar Association and Library of Congress Recognizes Legal Product for the First Time
At their recent gala, the Burton Awards presented for the first-time ever the Technology Advancement in Law Award to LawGeex. On its twentieth anniversary, the program dedicated to recognizing excellence in law bestowed an award on the leading Contract Review Automation platform.
Co-hosted by the Library of Congress and co-sponsored by the American Bar Association, the 2019 Burton Awards was held at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC in front of an audience of 500 guests, including Chief Justice of the US Supreme Court John Roberts and members of all of the Top 20 Law Firms and Ivy League Schools. Attendees include government officials, managing partners of the largest law firms in America, and law school deans and professors from across the US.
Appreciating the growing importance of technology, the Burton Awards decided to recognize products which advance the practice of law, are disrupting the market, produce material time-cost savings, and have a demonstrated impact.
The selection committee included as members and advisors Kim Rivera, President of Strategy and Business Management and Chief Legal Officer at HP, Harvey Anderson, Deputy General Counsel of HP, and Dr. Roland Vogl, Executive Director of the Stanford Program in Law, Science, and Technology.
In presenting the award, Anderson stated the reason for the new award, “We celebrate those who expose, showcase, and fuel an industry-wide call to action to apply new technologies and processes to advance the practice of law.” Commenting on the selection of LawGeex, Anderson remarked, “We sought to find the most innovative applications of technology in the areas of Computational Law and Policy in use today, that advance the practice of law in corporate, law firm, or non-profit sectors in meaningful and beneficial ways.”
Noory Bechor, CEO of LawGeex, commented, “We are humbled by the recognition as the first-ever Technology Advancement in Law Award recipient of the Burton Awards. With so many technology solutions in the marketplace, we are proud that the Burton Awards chose LawGeex for our role in advancing the legal world and providing demonstrated impact today. The Burton Award testifies to the role that LawGeex plays in helping lawyers focus on high-impact work.”
